View Ridge Playfield Raises Funds for New Playground Structures

Jul 27, 2000 -- Friends of View Ridge Playfield is raising money to replace the play equipment in View Ridge Park on NE 70th Street between 43rd Avenue NE and 45th Avenue NE.

"There is so much that is lovely at View Ridge Park, with its huge trees and open grassy spaces, it’s a shame that the decrepit play equipment is a blight on an otherwise ideal place," says group coordinator T. C. Richmond. The city is improving the park infrastructure and basic play apparatus but community dollars are needed to pay for a much needed covered area, improved basketball facilities, enhanced play equipment and other features.

The group needs to raise $75,000 by September. The city will match pledges of cash, as well as in-kind donations of time and services, for a grand total of $150,000. All donations are tax deductible and go directly to pay for playground equipment.

Friends of View Ridge Playfield meets the first Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. at the Sandpoint Methodist Church, located at 4710 NE 70th Street. Interested parties may contact T. C. Richmond at (206) 522-5983 or Doug Lane at (206) 525-0944. Tax deductible checks may be made out to Boys and Girls Club (with a check notation to View Ridge Playfield) and mailed to: Friends of View Ridge Playfield, P.O. Box 15103, Seattle, WA 98115.
