Information SheetWashington State FerriesDec 23, 2002 --WASHINGTON STATE Ferries will once again help customers "get home for the holidays" this season. The ferry system, which generally does not experience high volumes over Christmas or New Year's, will offer a holiday schedule for Wednesday, December 25, and Wednesday, January 1, 2003, on the Edmonds/Kingston route, the Seattle/Bainbridge route, the Point Defiance/Tahlequah route, the Mukilteo/Clinton route, and Seattle/Bremerton auto ferry route. The Seattle/Bremerton auto ferry route will also have an additional 1:30 a.m. trip from Seattle on Christmas Day (Wednesday night/Thursday morning), on New Year's Eve (Tuesday night/Wednesday morning) and on New Year's Day (Wednesday night/Thursday morning). A holiday schedule generally reduces the number of early morning sailings in order to provide increased evening sailings to accommodate customers traveling over the holidays. WSF's other routes will operate on a regular weekday schedule with the exception of the Fauntleroy/Vashon/Southworth route. Washington State Ferries will cancel the following sailings on both Christmas Day and New Year's Day in order to provide more frequent sailings later in the day when customers need service. Canceled: Fauntleroy/Vashon/Southworth sailings include the following: From Fauntleroy: 4:35 a.m., 5:55 a.m., 7:25 a.m. Additional: Fauntleroy/Vashon/Southworth sailings include the following: From Fauntleroy: 2:00 p.m., 3:30 p.m., 4:20 p.m. In addition, if traffic warrants, WSF will provide an extra sailing at 8:55 p.m. on Christmas Eve from Clinton and at 9:25 p.m. from Mukilteo. No passenger-only service will be provided on Christmas Day or New Year's Day. Reader CommentsDiscuss this article in the forums!
